When you process a document once, Academic Translate extracts its visual layout coordinates. If you want to re-translate the same document into another language or test a different AI model (e.g. DeepSeek vs Claude 3.5), layout extraction is skipped entirely, providing near-instant re-translation.
Credits are only permanently deducted upon successful generation of your translated PDF. If an unexpected error occurs during processing, credits are automatically retained.
